NORTH CAROLINA A&T: MEAC CHAMPS PLAY AND SERVE IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Cy Alexander
Head Basketball Coach North Carolina A&T:

“This has been an awesome trip for our young men,” said Alexander. “We did so much more than just come here to play basketball. What these young men experienced this week will change their lives forever. They really got a chance to see how fortunate they are and how important it is to give back.”

North Carolina A&T traveled with SCORE International to the Dominican Republic. While in the country, the Aggies played some of the top players from the DR, served kids through providing basketball clinics and visiting orphanages, and spent some down time at the beach. The players did a tremendous job of reaching out and encouraging the many people they encountered. Thanks to Coach Cy Alexander for understanding and using his platform to "teach" more than just a game, but also the life lessons found in sport.

2013 Super Sports Week Dominican

SCORE partnered with high school and college basketball, baseball, and softball athletes during Super Sports Week in the Dominican Republic. Through playing a sport they love and with kids in orphanages and villages, they were able to share the love and the life changing message of Jesus Christ. The athletes did a tremendous job of pouring into the lives of the many different people they were blessed to serve. At night, the athletes and coaches gathered for worship and a brief word of encouragement. It was exciting to see the way God not only worked through this group but also the way He worked in their individual lives. THANKS to the many athletes and coaches that gave of their time, talents, and resources to serve with SCORE International.

We joined the U18National Coach from Italy, Marco Ramondino, the U16 National Coach from Portugal, Rio Gomes, the Assistant National Coach for Portugal, Mario Gomez to encourage and challenge the coaches. SCORE also was working with Word of Life Portugal Director, David West hosting the boy's basketball team from Worthington Christian. The team played local teams and did free basketball clinics.

Division I Players Serve in Dominican

Several Division I players took time out of their summers to travel with SCORE to the Dominican Republic May 24-29. The team played 4 games against some great competition including the Dominican Jr. National Team. During the day they were able to serve through a variety of activities. They put on a free basketball clinic, they took food to a village, visited a Day Care...... they spent time loving on the kids. The most important thing they did was share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. They got the chance to share it through personal words..... personal testimonies, but they did a tremendous job of sharing through their actions. One of my favorite quotes is "As Christians, we are called to share the Gospel everyday, and when necessary....... we  should use words". This week, the players shared it.
